BREAKS Between 6 - 9hrs of work a 30 min break is required 9hrs or more a 45 min break is required

NB Drivers Hours Rules take precedence over RTD Regulations
All days must be accounted for: statutory leave, sick leave, absence. A full week of statutory holiday/absence Mon-Sun enter 48hrs. Any other period enter 8hrs per day.
In order to record working time on the tachograph chart the government recommendation is that the drivers use the mode switch in the following manner:
CROSSED HAMMERS:
Other work and any waiting time or periods of availability (PoA) NOT KNOWN in advance
ON DUTY:
On duty and available for work, for periods of availability (PoA) KNOWN about in advance
REST:
Breaks and rest
NB If the CROSSED HAMMERS mode is selected for driving periods this will automatically default to other work when the vehicle becomes stationary.
To record PoA's by using the MODE switch ON DUTY must be selected
